The Internet of Things for Precision Agriculture (IoT4Ag) Engineering Research Center is excited to announce our first Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program. The program hosted at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) will provide K-12 teachers in the Philadelphia region with continuing education, mentoring from Penn Engineering researchers, opportunities to participate in cutting-edge research projects related to precision agriculture, a classroom allowance, and a stipend.
The RET program is a part of IoT4Ag’s broader Workforce Development pillar, which aims to educate diverse groups of students and professionals to build and practice precision agricultural science, IoT technologies, and systems. IoT4ag continues to develop a portfolio of activities to engage pre-college, community college, and university students and agricultural professionals through national and international partnerships with educational institutions, museums, and organizations and via our Industrial Practitioner, Ag Systems, and Workforce Development advisory boards. The the RET program represents an intersection of Pre-College activities, which are designed to increase STEM interest, exposure, enthusiasm, and competency, and Community College and Professional level activities, which are focused on increasing precision agricultural technology competencies and supporting professional certifications.
To apply, Philadelphia-based K-12 teachers (especially STEM teachers!) should submit a resume and letter of interest to iot4ag@seas.upenn.edu.
Applications will be accepted until Monday April 25, 2022, at 5:00 PM ET.
